Barcelona is the fifth best city in the world to live and to do business according to the Best Cities ranking, presented by the Resonance consultancy.
Barcelona achieved the 5th position of the global list of Best Cities. This ranking is positioning itself as one of the most complete due to its methodology, which is based on the opinions of visitors, investors, talents and local residents.
According to this study, Barcelona is only surpassed by London, Paris, New York and Tokyo, and is ranked better than other European capitals as important as Amsterdam, Rome or Berlin. According to Resonance, the consulting group in charge of the research its business culture, meteorology and architecture of Barcelona are three of the main reasons for this position.
The study also highlights the Strategic Tourism 2020 Plan , which has worked and still works to reduce practices that negatively affect the local population and manages the tourist city making it compatible with the real needs of its residents.
Resonance is the consultancy firm specializing in tourism, real estate and economic development responsible for developing the ranking. They analyze and quantify six key aspects of each city: location, for the natural and built environment; product, for attractions and infrastructures, from universities and museums to airports; agenda, regarding the cultural and entertainment proposals; people, in reference to diversity and immigration; prosperity, regarding employment in the city; and promotion, analyzing online recommendations and promotions.
The sum of all these factors has positioned Barcelona as the fifth best city in the Best Cities global ranking and ranks the 3rd position in the category of location, being surpassed only by Tokyo & Dubai.
Another recently published study is “The Functional Urban Areas in Spain: Economy and Quality of Life”, made by the BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE). According to this ranking, Barcelona is the city with the highest quality of life in Spain.
This study measures the innovative capacity, socioeconomic status, living conditions and health of all the locations analyzed. The ranking highlights the positive effects of these cities on the labor market, productivity and the attraction of international talent.
Barcelona once again stands out as on of the best cities in the world to start a company, work or simply live due mainly to its business friendly environment, its climate, its culture and highly talented professionals.
